2007 The Great American Barbecue Open Contest saw 210 cooking teams from around the nation in a fierce battle for the title of Grand Champion. In addition to the title categories of Chicken, Ribs, Pork, and Brisket, cookers could also submit entries in Side Dish and Dessert categories, although these two categories do not count towards scores for the championship titles. At the standing-room only awards ceremony, cookers congratulated the winners of the Kidz Que and Sauce, Baste, and Rub contests. Then, the cheering steadily built throughout the open results until the crescendo of the award for Grand Champion going to Great Grills of Fire from Jefferson City, Missouri.
