August 10, 2010 –
The Great American Barbecue Committee, Volunteers and Friends, plus a very GENEROUS cash and time donation from Honeywell resulted in the most successful school supply drive the GuadalupeCenter has ever experienced.
The goal of the Center was to really make the older kids feel wanted and make sure they had everything possible to make their year back at school successful.Every one thing that we can do to make them stay in school is a positive for our community and that child.Focusing on the older kids will help create confidence and successful leaders in our community.
Honeywell had 12 volunteers show up to organize, fill and hand out backpacks. The Great American Barbecue Committee also had 12 volunteers that day.Plus, the outpouring of donations from our committee, volunteers, families and friends was outstanding.
We hoped to fully fill and fully equip 160 backpack in four different grade groupings, the magic is that we filled over 190 backpacks and were able to leave GuadalupeCenter with a few extra supplies during the school year to help those students ongoing.
YOU ARE ALL FANTASTIC!!!!!!THANK YOU!!!!
